Welcome to The Hollywood Gossip’s Week in Review.

• The Mel Gibson tapes. Where to start? All the tapes / voicemails were recorded February 18. Oksana Grigorieva says she taped him because she feared for her life. Whether witnesses saw him attack her January 6 is the question.
• She’s being treated like a common criminal in the slammer, but Lindsay Lohan may be set free as early as this weekend. She’s lobbying for time with family before being shipped off to rehab following her release – don’t bet on it.
• A major shakeup at American Idol leaves Randy Jackson the last judge standing, with J. Lo and Steven Tyler replacing Ellen and Kara.
• The appearance by Barack Obama on The View was mostly light, and sparked criticism from many, including former Gov. Sarah Palin.
• In other Palin news, Bristol is reportedly pissed over a report that Levi put it to Lanesia Garcia and may become a baby daddy again!

This is reportedly the new American Idol panel.

• Jon and Kate Gosselin reached a custody settlement.
• A supposed set of Angelina Jolie drug photos surfaced.
• Zac Efron did the strip club thing … Zac Efron style.
• Justin Bieber is a sinner against God (some think).
• Kendall Jenner is all good with her bikini pics, though.
• Tiffany came to the defense of Miley. Yes, Tiffany.
• People really don’t like Scott Disick as a general rule.
• Jersey Shore is back, and better/worse than ever.
• The Bachelorette ending(s) spark debate among fans.
• Mocienne Petit Jackson claimed to be MJ’s love child.

Most people have Bieber Fever, but some say he’s a sinner.

• Baby news about six months from today: Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr (rumored); Melissa Rycroft and Tye Strickland (confirmed).
• Couples: Alex Beh is dating Jennifer Love Hewitt; Kroy Biermann is dating Kim Zolciak; Eddie Cibrian is moving in with LeAnn Rimes.
• Wedding Bells: Linda Hogan and Charlie Hill are engaged. Hey, at least he can drink at his own wedding to the 50-year-old. Barely.

Burdened by financial and legal problems, Teresa Giudice is all about making a fresh start. Making money to climb out of bankruptcy would be a nice bonus.

What better place for a reality star to forget about the fact that she really might go to jail than the shiny hardwood floors of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars?

According to her recent Tweets, she’s considering it.

“I am thinking about doing Dancing with the Stars,” she revealed then asked her 80,352 followers if she should go for it. “What do you guys think?”

This implies ABC has approached her about it, as does this Tweet: “Who should I make them give me as a partner? @MaksimC is the hottest, no?”

Yes, Maksim Chmerkovskiy is the hottest. But he’s with Erin Andrews, so don’t get your hopes up Teresa. Focus on the bankruptcy auction for now.

Teresa Giudice already has the Dancing With the Stars wardrobe down …

No Real Housewives have joined the cast before, but plenty of reality TV stars – ranging from Kate Gosselin to Kim Kardashian and Jake Pavelka – have.

Will Teresa follow in their footsteps and receive the fame and paycheck she badly needs as a result? We’ll see … though we would prefer Danielle Staub.

Something tells us her moves on that floor would be straight up Raw.

Others rumored to be among the rug-cutting cast this coming season, which begins Monday, September 20: Former NFL quarterback Troy Aikman, Bachelorette star Ali Fedotowsky and Mike Sorrentino, a.k.a. The Situation, of Jersey Shore fame.

Think Teresa should do it? Who would you most like to see on DTWS?

Did I mention the camping trip is taking place in Palin’s home state of Alaska? Mosquitoes are the stuff of legend in Alaska. Alaska doesn’t just have mosquitoes, it has monster mosquitoes. Thirty-five different kinds of mosquitoes. Creepers.

It gets progressively worse, oh yes it does.

On this camping trip the kids will have to do schoolwork. Talk about the worst summer vacation E-V-E-R.

Sarah Palin’s father, a retired science teacher, and her brother, a third-grade teacher, will give the kids a hands-on natural history lesson. Sarah herself will show Kate and the kids how to avoid bears. Bears! On the other hand, that’s probably a lot less scary than all the other topics Palin could choose to talk about. Like Congress.

I’ve camped. It’s somewhat fun, as long as you don’t mind the discomfort, inconvenience and lack of sleep. Going anywhere with kids requires so much stuff. I often joke that traveling to the amusement park or my mom’s house with my two kids for one day feels like I’m going camping. So I can’t even wrap my mind around the amount of duffel bags and gear required for an excursion with eight. I’m sure Jon is thanking his lucky stars right now. With all these elements at play, it will be hard to know which part of the experience will be worse than the rest, but we’ll just have to watch the show and find out.

So as you’re complaining about the four-hour road trip to visit Aunt Millicent in Dayton or the overpriced restaurants at the seashore this summer, just think about Sarah and Kate Plus Eight and I guarantee you will instantly begin to have much better time.

There are far worse mothers in America, I can assure you, than the infamous mom of eight.

If you want to get all worked up about negligent mothers then I can direct you to the pages of the New York Post, for any number of examples of mothers who go shopping and leave their babies alone or worse allow their boyfriends or baby daddies to beat their little ones. Save your rage for them.

And when it comes to celebrity mothers, I’m fine with you finger pointing at Dina Lohan, who should take big blame for her hot mess of a daughter Lindsay.

But leave Kate alone! I have no problem with her turning her adorable eight into TV stars — in fact, I want to be one of her brood.

I want to go camping with Kate and Sarah Palin in Alaska, which is actually happening this week. How fun would that be? Alaska is gorgeous, you can bet the Gosselins are going to get the best camp site, the best tents and the best cookout in the state.

And who wouldn’t want to play with Willow, Piper and baby Trig.

As we reported yesterday, the worlds of pop culture phenomena Sarah Palin and Kate Gosselin will collide when the pair meet up in Alaska to film Kate Plus 8.

Sarah’s father and brother, Chuck Heath Sr. and Jr., are both teachers who will give the Gosselin brood a history lesson. Then Sarah will take ‘em all camping!

Seriously. That’s the rumor going around.

It actually makes sense, seeing as TLC will air Sarah Palin’s Alaska, a new documentary series, at some point this year or next. But the run-in got us thinking:

Which famous family would you rather go camping with? Kate’s got eight kids and Sarah’s got five – plus grandson Tripp and future son-in-law Levi Johnston.

Lindsay Lohan may want to spend the full 90 days in jail after reading this. We’d be embarrassed to be seen in public if we were related to this lowlife.

The fact that he’s Lindsay’s dad does explain a lot about her, if you think about it. But that’s a separate issue. Back to the R-rated lecture at hand …

On top of allegedly harassing and attacking fiancee Kate Major, Michael Lohan is allegedly attempting to sell nude photos of her to the highest bidder.

A photo taken in April shows Kate in bed with her breast exposed and her eyes closed. She’s wearing nothing but her engagement ring from Michael.

Gross.

When Kate Major found out about Michael’s intentions, she gave the following statement: “Michael Lohan is a disgusting human being and father.”

“He took these pictures of me without my knowledge. At the time he was my fiancé. I have just found out about these images today and moving forward my lawyer, William O’Conner, will be handing the legalities of anyone that reproduces them.”

Michael, of course, responded in kind.

“She has no money, no job and she’s been living off of me for the last eight months. If she doesn’t stop the nonsense, more and more will come out. I am tired of being used and people who need to make up stories to make money off others.”

“I have more important issues to deal with than Kate Major.”

LOL. No you don’t, Mike. This is all you do, sponge off others for attention. How many times have you been in jail, Mr. High and Mighty? Just asking.

Just to recap, Kate Major used to be Lindsay’s assistant, then became a writer for Star magazine, then quit her job to date Jon Gosselin, then got engaged to Michael, then accused him of beating her up and threatening to kill her.

Kate Gosselin and her brood are currently Alaska to film TLC’s Kate Plus 8. Rumor has it they’ve got a camping trip planned up north with the most famous Alaskan!

Sarah Palin will be making a guest appearance, according to reports.

The Gosselins were spotted in Anchorage Thursday and Friday. The kids had fun, but it’s all about the Kate Plus 8 ratings – and two pop culture phenoms colliding.

The Dancing With the Stars alum is slated to meet with former Governor Sarah Palin for a camping excursion that will be shown on the series. Words fail us now.

During their stay, the Pennsylvanians will also be receiving a hands-on natural history lesson from Palin’s father, Chuck Heath, and Sarah’s brother, Chuck Jr.

Both Chucks are school teachers in America’s 49th state.

TLC-YA THERE: The Palins will welcome the Gosselins to Alaska!

“She’s excited because it will be fun and educational for the children. Sarah will even teach Kate how to avoid bears!” the source told In Touch about Palin.

Valuable life lessons for the kiddos, for sure. We just hope they don’t bring in Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin to offer tips on how to avoid teen pregnancy.

Palin’s representatives referred reporters to TLC when contacted about the In Touch report, while the network subsequently stated that it had no comment.

While not officially confirmed her appearance would make some sense, given that it offers a nice tie-in with Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which TLC landed in March.

The eight-episode documentary will feature the former V.P. candidate spotlighting various facets of Alaskan life, and is being produced by Mark Burnett.

Forget ex-husband Jon–Kate Gosselin could rename her TLC hit Sarah & Kate Plus 8! In Touch can exclusively reveal that Kate and her brood have traveled to Alaska with cameras in tow to meet up with the northern state’s most famous resident, Sarah Palin. “Sarah, Kate and the kids will go camping,” a source says, adding that Sarah’s father, a retired science teacher, and brother, a third-grade educator, will conduct a hands-on natural history lesson for 9-year-old twins Mady and Cara, and 6-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Joel, Collin, Leah, Hannah and Alexis. A mother of a big family herself, former vice presidential candidate Sarah is thrilled about the upcoming visit. “She’s excited because it will be fun and educational for the children. Sarah will even teach Kate how to avoid bears!” the insider adds.

When Jon Gosselin took to the beach in Ocean City, N.J., on July 8, he looked like a new man. Donning dark shades and a plaid bathing suit, the dad of eight looked toned, tanned and healthier than ever while strolling the beach with his bikini-clad girlfriend, Ellen Ross. And there was one thing noticeably missing — his beer belly! “Jon’s made time for himself,” says a friend of the reality star, who adds that Jon’s kids were his main motivation to get in shape. “Jon’s own dad never took care of himself and died at an early age, so Jon is doing whatever he can to ensure he’ll be around for his kids as long as possible.”

After his acrimonious split with Kate last year, Jon’s life took a nosedive. He stopped going to the gym and eating Kate’s healthy, home cooked meals, and plummeted into a wild bachelor lifestyle, which included lots of bar-hopping, heavy drinking and smoking. He soon left the family’s television show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, and acquired a reputation for constantly partying with a revolving door of young women. But now, Jon’s friend says the tide has finally turned, and the family man is getting his life back on track. Says the pal, “He feels better and looks better than ever.”

All kidding aside, kudos to Jon Gosselin if that’s true.

His days of heavy drinking, smoking and parading around with mediocre girls made for good gossip, but not a healthy lifestyle. Our one question for you, though …
