Dallas Cowboys teammate Tony Romo, who has already dated Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson, is now dating former Miss Missouri Candice Crawford.

The sister of Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford happens to be Dallas sports reporter now. Conflict of interest much? Bet he gives her some real exclusives …

… if you know what we’re talking about!

Anyway, Candice was one of two special spectators this past Sunday at the Cowboys’ practice: Kim Kardashian, Miles Austin’s girlfriend, was also on hand.

Both watched practice from a private suite. Can the ‘Boys succeed amid this media circus? Will Dallas fans throw Candice under the bus if they suck? Will the famed Kardashian title-delivering string of good luck continue? Time will tell.

The more important question is …

Who’s hotter?

Eric, 30, graduated from Yale, where he played football. He has pulled out of Wharton business school to be with Jessica, Us Weekly reports.

American Idol is apparently cleaning house.

Talk of who will fill Simon Cowell’s vacant seat on the hit show’s panel now shifts to who will replace the other two departing judges: Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi will not be returning next season either, according to reports.

DeGeneres, who joined the show in its ninth season earlier this year, confirmed in a statement that she told Fox it “didn’t feel like the right fit for me.”

“I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and would hold off until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next,” she said. “It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for.”

The class act added: “I loved the experience working on Idol, am very grateful for the year I had, am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

In the same statement, American Idol creator and executive producer Simon Fuller says, “I loved Ellen’s passion for the artists and her nurturing skills. She brought honesty and optimism to our judging panel and I will miss her greatly.”

Next year’s American Idol roster will look a lot different.

But here’s where it gets interesting: TMZ reports that Kara DioGuardi has been fired from the program, which will return to a three-judge format.

Fox has not acknowledged Kara’s departure in a statement, but it appears it’s all but official. That leaves Randy Jackson as the last man standing.

The show will reportedly be going back to a three-judge panel of Randy and a couple of high-profile newcomers: Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

This so-called “nuclear option” of blowing up nearly the entire panel has been kicked around for months, but nevertheless comes as a surprise.

Stars ranging from Harry Connick, Jr., to Bret Michaels, Chris Isaak and even Jessica Simpson have been rumored to be negotiating for the job.

Looks like J. Lo and the Aerosmith frontman won out.

The only way Kara could be asked back would be if the Lopez deal fell apart, but TMZ’s sources claim it is already a done deal. Crazy stuff!

Will Jessica Simpson replace Simon Cowell on American Idol?

It’s possible, according to Life & Style!

So is Mel Gibson winning Humanitarian of the Year honors, but hey. Anything’s possible! Why not run with it for some quick hits if you’re a third-rate magazine?

According to the celebrity gossip rag, Jessica is in negotiations to become the newest judge on American Idol! Sources say that she has already met with the producers and everyone really “likes” her. Now, it’s just a matter of fitting her in.

Riiiiight.

Had this news surfaced a year ago, with Jessica’s name thrown around as a possible replacement Paula Abdul, that would at least make some sense.

They have similar a “temperament,” you could say.

Jessica replacing Simon Cowell, though? We don’t see it happening, although maybe we’re wrong. Compare her to some of the other rumored replacements whose names have surfaced in recent weeks and vote in our survey below …

Ellen & Sherrie told me: “We don’t know if she read it but lo and behold, she’s been acting like a Rules Girl ever since!” Indeed, it seemed like someone flipped a switch: practically overnight, Underwood (27) went from wearing her heart on her sleeve and being taken for granted to being more elusive, harder-to-get, but easy to be with. Her wedding to hockey hunk Mike Fisher (30) was celebrated on a recent cover of People.

Just a coincidence? Let’s compare the record “before” and “after” – you can draw your own conclusions.

BTR – Before The Rules:

After dating Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo for only a couple of months, she pressed him for commitment — he used the work card to break up with her in June 2007. At that time she lamented, “I don’t know if it’s that I’m not quite his type or whatever, but I don’t think he’s at the point in his life where he would be willing to sacrifice football.” Well, football didn’t seem to stop him from moving on to Jessica Simpson soon thereafter.
 
Two months later she rebounded with Chace Crawford. “He’s really cute,” she gushed to People. “He’s got cool hair, he’s a nice height and he just has beautiful blue eyes.” Yikes! Echoes of TMI Megan Fox.

She tells Ellen DeGeneres that she would “cook for anyone that would like me to cook for them.” She fell for the myth I discussed in “More Lies Women Tell Themselves,” namely the belief that “demonstrating your culinary skills will give him yet one more incentive to date or marry you, but in fact it may backfire. He may savor every crumb of your amazing rugelach, but he’ll also know you like him, think you’re trying too hard, see you as less of a challenge, and thus unconsciously downgrade your dating market value.”
 
She goes on record saying she wasn’t good at dating, telling Cosmoshe’s “horrible around guys.”

ATR: After The Rules
  
When introduced to Mike Fisher backstage at one of her concerts back in October 2008 (NB: her turf, not his) she was less than open to the prospect of a long distance relationship (his hockey home is Ottawa). Ellen & Sherrie believe “her lack of initial interest may explain why Fisher fell so hard for her the day they met.” It’s true, men really do know when they meet the woman they want to marry. Looking back, Fisher says: “I was thanking God for her, for that moment. It’s something I’ll never forget.”
 
Underwood refused to even contemplate the idea of moving in with him: “Call me old-fashioned,” she told DeGeneres in November 2009, “The next guy I move in with will be my hubby. Whoever that is.”

She was much less loquacious in sharing any details of her relationship with Fisher with the press – almost as if she’d read Chapter 13 in Rules II, “Don’t Tell the Media About Your Love Life and Other Rules for Celebrities: Talking openly about your relationship will only embarrass him and scare him away. Let him talk about you when he’s interviewed. Better to do The Rules quietly and show up at the Oscars with an engagement ring than to talk for an hour about a man who hasn’t proposed to you yet on a daytime talk show!”

She also seems wise to the chapter that follows, “Don’t Be a Groupie…” insofar as she never boned up on hockey just to please him. Instead, she says “Mike enjoys my lack of hockey knowledge…I’m just supportive and he’s the same way.”

Underwood “felt like a princess” at the couple’s July 10th wedding in Georgia – and who wouldn’t wearing a tiara with 40 carats of diamonds from her husband-to-be. After a Rulesy-pink-pink-pink celebration, the Fishers (she’ll still use Underwood professionally) left for a honeymoon he had entirely planned, telling her only it would be warm (Tahiti turns out).

Did The Rules inspire Underwood’s about-face in dating behavior? We may never know – celebs are loathe to admit any artifice (none of them have extensions, or implants, or have used botox, right?). On the other hand, should Underwood choose to share her Rules success story, she could help the millions of women who admire her avoid needless heartache, and find their own Mr. Right. Beyonce, who wrote, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” said The Rules is her “fave book.” Why not spread the word?

Jessica Simpson’s dog Daisy was snatched by a coyote last year.

Ari Gold will try to smooth things over on Entourage next week.

Earlier this season on the HBO series, viewers were informed that the singer’s dog died, which of course happened in real life. On the show, the singer was also upset over her lack of face time with the man in charge of Miller Gold.

At the time, Ari tried to get back on Jessica’s good side using another adorable little dog in the process. Things don’t go well. This time, Simpson curses Ari off and also teases a transfer to new representation … in the form of Lizzie.

Is Jessica Simpson being used solely for money by new boyfriend Eric Johnson? That’s what sources reportedly close to the star say, but we highly doubt it.

Having sex with her probably plays a role in his thinking as well.

In any case, Jessica has been involved in some crash-and-burn love affairs since divorcing Nick Lachey, and pals fear she’s headed down that path again.

She been dating Eric Johnson for only two months, but sources say that’s been plenty of time for the former tight end to swoop in, move in and cash in!

Jess’ friends fear that her unemployed new boyfriend, who hasn’t held  a steady gig since he was cut by the New Orleans Saints in 2008, is using her.

Eric Johnson can’t wait to tackle Jessica Simpson … but is he motivated only by dollar signs? The photo above hints at some other sources of interest, most likely.

On top of living in her $5 million Redwood, Calif., mansion, he accompanied her to Italy for her 30th birthday where he lived it up in a $3,000-a-night suite.

The pair lounged aboard her $5,000-a-day chartered yacht and dined at only the finest restaurants, including Monzù in Capri’s five-star hotel Punta Tragara.

Not a bad life, although he is a Yale graduate and former NFL player, not some deadbeat with no money or potential job prospects … in theory anyway.

“Jessica is so starved for love, she just doesn’t see any of Eric’s faults,” an insider reports. “She’s totally been paying for everything in their relationship.”

“It doesn’t seem like Eric intends to stop that anytime soon.”
