While the supposed baby news of Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom has not actually been addressed by the couple, there’s no doubt about this one:

Melissa Rycroft is pregnant!

“It was a shock. We weren’t even trying,” the former Bachelor winner, who married insurance agent Tye Strickland in December, tells Us Weekly.

“It’s the most wonderful surprise in the world. It’s such a blessing.”

Blessed she may be, but the co-host of ABC’s Bachelor Pad says starting a family was the last thing on her mind. Someone forgot to tell Tye that.

“He wanted to have kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, ‘No, not ready!’” Melissa Rycroft said. “He’s actually cried more than I have.”

Rycroft says that her solid relationship with her man has helped her stay calm: “Tye is caring, he’s funny. He’s going to be a great dad.”

Interestingly, she says she’s hoping for a boy, while Tye wants a girl. Either way, “We’re going to find out as soon as we can,” she says.

Melissa, who received the final rose from Jason Mesnick during the 2009 season of The Bachelor, only to have him break up with her for Molly Malaney (who he later married), is “eating everything in sight” and may “gain 90 pounds.”

Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski seemed to be making their relationship work despite rumors of his rampant infidelity in the run-up to their Bachelorette engagement.

But did his cheating ways return, and were they responsible for the couple’s split, which we reported yesterday? That’s the rumor, according to friends of the pair.

“We think Ed was doing shady stuff during their relationship,” an inside source said of Swiderski. “Jillian knew all along but couldn’t quite put her finger on it.”

We’re guessing Lindsey Johnson and Bethany Steffen can relate.

Friends recall an incident a month-and-a-half ago when the pair flew to L.A. from Chicago and Jillian stayed with girlfriends while Ed stayed with the guys.

Was Ed Swiderski screwing around behind Jill’s back?

The morning after they had a night out on the town, the pals had an early tee-time to play golf but when they went to pick up Ed Swiderski, he couldn’t make it.

“I believe what happened was he had a girl with him and had no way to get her out of the house,” revealed the inside source. “They all knew he was a player.”

Jillian Harris became the star of The Bachelorette after she was rejected by Jason Mesnick in the preceding season of The Bachelor. He married Molly Malaney.

Former Bachelor contestants close to her say she was happy, but knew there was trouble brewing. “Jillian thought that she could change him,” says the insider.

Once a cheater, always a cheater … right Vienna?

We don’t even have a joke for this moving quote, but The Bachelor star may be right. Especially if your fiancee is a nut job stalker, which he can attest to.

Sources close to the couple say they weren’t too surprised to see Jake and Vienna break up, in large part because she didn’t give him a whole lot of space.

“She was kind of stalkerish,” says a staffer who worked closely with Jake Pavelka on Dancing With the Stars. “She wanted to spend a lot of time with him.”

“Everywhere he would go, she would go. Rehearsals, photo shoots, practice. She was the only significant other there sometimes … it was a little weird.”

Another source says Vienna was pissed when Jake was cast on DWTS, saying she is “not a fan of reality TV” (LOL) or him being surrounded by women.

A Bachelor staffer echoed the sentiment: “I don’t think anyone really expected [Jake and Vienna] to last. It seemed like more of an infatuation than love.”

More specifically, Vienna went on the show because he was on it, and Jake was so smitten that he didn’t heed warnings from … well, the whole country.

In any case, it all unraveled amid rumors of Vienna cheating with Gregory Michael, which she denies. Moreover, her stepmom calls Jake a fame whore.

Oh yes. To hear her family tell it, Vienna Girardi was the one who out because of Jake’s undying love for the spotlight. NOTE: They met on reality TV.

Her stepmom Lisa also says her relationship with Jake Pavelka ended last night around 6 p.m., and the breakup took place over the phone! Weak, J.

According to her family, Vienna felt that Jake constantly abandoned her for photo shoots and other media events … instead of building a foundation.

Every reality TV fairy tale needs one of those.

Vienna adamantly denies ever cheating on Jake, despite earlier reports Jake was convinced she was “stepping out” on him with that dude from Greek.

Girardi’s family wasn’t done either, with her family members telling TMZ that Jake is a total fraud who was only motivated by TV ratings and not love.

Quoth the stepmom: “I don’t think [Jake] ever loved her … I think he picked her because she is a dramatic person and it was good for the ratings.”

She also said that despite his public love-fests, “In real life, they never kissed, didn’t have a romantic relationship and he never said he loved her.”

If that’s true, he is definitely the biggest fraud of all time. One thing is for sure, in any event – he won’t be holding on to any five-figure parting gifts.

Vienna gave her engagement ring back to Jake when she moved out of his place this weekend, but that $50,000 rock will be headed back to ABC.

Her stepmom says Vienna ditched Jake with a goodbye note … and the 3 carat Neil Lane diamond he used to pop the question on The Bachelor.

Sources close to the show say Jake is required to give the ring back to the production company, and only keeps it if they end up getting married.

Decent odds for the show … 13/14 total, and even Jason Mesnick probably had to buy his own for Molly Malaney after dumping Melissa Rycroft.

June 2008: Jaymes Foster. News that Clay Aiken knocked up a middle-aged woman named Jaymes rocked his fans. In September of that year, he came out.

May 2008: Shayne Lamas. This bleach-blonde airhead was a lock to spark celebrity gossip interest – get dumped within weeks – after winning The Bachelor.

April 2008: Audrina Patridge. The Hills star was already becoming a big deal but a nude photo “scandal” took interest in her to a new level. Ah, “leaked” pics.

March 2008: Ashley Dupre. We deal with lots of attention whores, but few actual whores. The sexy call girl New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was boning fit the bill.

February 2008: David Archuleta. David, 17 going on 11, won the hearts of millions on American Idol and defeated all but one singer in pursuit of the crown.

January 2008: Adnan Ghalib. Who? The paparazzo who dated Britney Spears, natch! Their relationship fizzled when she was involuntarily hospitalized. Sad.

December 2007: Jamie Lynn Spears. When Britney’s lil’ sis announced she was carrying Casey Aldridge’s baby at age 16, well, we weren’t really surprised.

November 2007: Kim Kardashian. We knew that booty was somethin’ from the way Ray J rode it. But we’re surprised how far she’s ridden her 15 minutes.

Kim has kome so far since the Ray J daze. Her sisters are famous too.

October 2007: Heidi Montag. Speidi engaged! Heidi and Spencer call off wedding! Heidi and Spencer pose for bikini pics! You name it, we wrote about it.

September 2007: Camila Alves. Upstaging a Vanessa Hudgens nude photo scandal is no small feat, getting engaged to Matthew McConaughey will do that.

August 2007: Spencer Pratt. A master manipulator, Spencer Pratt has always known he’s a celebrity gossip magnet and exploited it like the best of them.

July 2007: Amy Polumbo. This beauty queen’s allegedly “raunchy” pics captivated us. Unfortch, the pics were quite vanilla Spread eagle in jeans? Poor.

June 2007: Joslyn Morse. Baseball star Alex Rodriguez was labeled “Stray-Rod” after his affair with a stripper who may or may not have an Adam’s apple.

May 2007: Lauren Conrad. Beautiful without trying too hard, The Hills star has been a fixture on The Hollywood Gossip since its inception. We heart her!

April 2007: Olivia Mojica. An American Idol reject whose sex tape brought her back to prominence took the traffic crown from another hopeful. Poetic.

February & March 2007: Antonella Barba. She kind if sucked on American Idol … and in pics surfacing online of her going to town on some schmoe.

January 2007: Britney Spears. Fresh off a split from K-Fed, Brit went on a binge of drinking, random sexual encounters and clubbing with no pants.

It’s really a shame this friendship fizzled fast.

December 2006: Paris Hilton. Disease-riddled. Useless. Always in the news. Back in the day, you could always count on the ho-tel heiress for gossip.

November 2006: Chris Ivery. Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo made a ton of headlines, for some reason, when she got engaged to Chris Ivery.

September & October 2006: Lindsay Lohan. Incredibly, back then, Lindsay was still in the early stages of her downward spiral. Nowadays? Wow.

August 2006: Kristin Cavallari. The former Laguna Beach star was, like, a big deal for a time there. She and Brody Jenner made a hot couple, too.

July 2006: Nicole Richie. At this point, Nicole had not eaten since like 2004. Brody Jenner tried to force-feed her at the urging of Spencer Pratt.

June 2006: Heather Mills. Heather Mills is a big loser, but boy, that peg-legged former call girl and digger of gold was a THG news cow for months.

This season of The Bachelor is sub-titled: On the Wings of Love.

Perhaps, however, it should be referred to as The Bachelor: Bumpy Skies Ahead!

A new report indicates that ABC producers have come up with a new scandal is brewing on set: Sources claim a contestant has been sleeping with one of the show’s crew members.

“She’s been having a sexual affair with somebody else in the Bachelor House,” a woman, supposedly referring to one of her rivals, says on a clip from the show that has mysteriously disappeared from ABC’s website.

No way the network purposely leaked that quote and then removed the video, is there?!?

ABC reps refuse to comment on the rumors.

Last season, The Bachelor enjoyed record ratings after Jason Mesnick chose Melissa Rycroft on the season finale… only to dump her minutes later on the After the Rose special and ask runner-up Molly Malaney out instead.

That possibly staged controversy has at least resulted in two happy couples: Rycroft is married to Tye Strickland; while Jason and Molly are engaged and adorable.

Earlier this week, we continued the ’09 countdown with Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft in the #9 spot.

Today: Celebrity of the Year finalist #8 … Carrie Prejean!

When Barack Obama took office in January, who would have guessed that a blonde beauty queen would create more diversion between Republicans and Democrats than the nation’s first African-American President?

But after Prejean took her stance on “opposite marriage” on April 19, all heck broke loose. Perez Hilton called her a “bitch,” Carrie claimed she lost the Miss USA title due to her opinion, and every conservative alive chose this woman as their cause’s role model.

She was discriminated due to her beliefs, they cried! She’s a poor, defenseless, targeted Christian, they insisted!

After all, God was testing Prejean and while she passed, the rest of society failed. So said Carrie’s supporters.

They stuck by her through rumors of a boob job; through blatant lies over topless photos; and through the eventual loss of her Miss California crown after Donald Trump grew sick of Carrie’s act.

But Prejean continued to play the role of victim, even though her religion is the most popular in the country and even though her stance on gay marriage is agreed upon by a majority of voters. That wasn’t enough. She was wronged dammit!

And you know who will pay for those wrongs, don’t you? The consumers that actually bought Prejean’s memoir, which recounted her harrowing story in detail. It’s a nightmare many of us still can’t awake from.

Today: Celebrity of the Year finalist #9 … Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft!

Molly and Melissa are both famous for getting engaged to Jason Mesnick.

ABC’s The Bachelor isn’t know for creating much in the way of real drama. But this spring changed all that when its star changed his mind … on national television.

Realizing he made the wrong choice, Jason Mesnick cast winner Melissa Rycroft to the curb in favor of runner-up Molly Malaney, who he went on to get engaged to.

This put America in a tough spot. It had fallen in love with Melissa, but Molly Malaney did nothing wrong. In the end, the controversy faded and everyone is happy.

Jason and Molly are planning on getting married and breaking The Bachelor’s 0-for-12 curse. Melissa Rycroft also got engaged to insurance agent Tye Strickland.

By handling the situation with class and grace, both ladies showed us that while there’s very little real about reality TV, there are some real people who go on it.

ABC’s The Bachelor doesn’t exactly have a strong track record.

Through 13 seasons, there have been no marriages and only one couple – last season’s lovebirds Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney – remain engaged.

Before this week’s split by Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado, his partially insane Season Six final rose recipient, there were two. Now it’s all on Jason.

Lamenting the sad breakup of Mary and Byron, Jimmy Kimmel didn’t sound too hopeful about the upcoming season yielding a happy marriage either.

After all, you’ve seen who they’ve got starring on it. That guy’s proven to be a real ladies man … definitely not ready to settle down and tie the knot.

This promo for The Bachelor’s new season makes that clear:

Just kidding. Jake Pavelka will be handing out roses, rather than Tiger Woods (he’d probably give out Ambien instead), and the pilot is ready for love.

At least that’s what we’ve been led to believe about Jake, although everything last season of The Bachelorette may have been an act to get this gig.

Maybe the network should make Tiger an offer. With a fourth mistress (still unnamed) rumored to be surfacing, he’s inching closer to 25 by the day:

Jason Mesnick couldn’t bear the thought of guys fighting over Molly Malaney on ABC’s The Bachelorette. Fortunately, she gave up that dream for him. And love.

In a new interview with Us, Jason says that a week after his ill-fated proposal to Melissa Rycroft on The Bachelor, show producers started inquiring about Molly.

“They kept asking me if I thought Molly would make a good Bachelorette,” he said. “I realized I was not willing to let Molly go and have 25 guys fight over her.”

Fortunately, Molly turned down that possibility, and Jason got it right the second time, receiving a second chance and ultimately a “yes” to marriage proposal.

Molly and Jason just got engaged in New Zealand.

With Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney now engaged, the controversial ending of The Bachelor last season now looks like it was for the best. As for Rycroft?

“Melissa is a great girl, but there wasn’t any chemistry,” Jason says of why he dumped her. “I broke up with her after Christmas, a month after we wrapped.”

Don’t feel too bad for Melissa, though. She made the finals of Dancing with the Stars and is now engaged herself, to Dallas insurance agent Tye Strickland!

Jason also adds that he and Melissa had already split in private, despite the appearance on the “After the Final Rose” special. But Molly Malaney wasn’t aware.

Mesnick was contractually prohibited from contacting her until The Bachelor aired. “At that point, she would have started filming The Bachelorette!” he recalls.

ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL: Jason Mesnick’s post-Bachelor switcheroo landed him in hot water with the viewing public, but everyone came out of it for the better.

Thus, it was the “After the Final Rose” taping that provided the less than ideal, but first available opportunity to rekindle things with Molly and win her back.

“Obviously, I didn’t want it on TV, but I had to take the chance if it meant getting her back,” Jason said. “I would rather have picked up the phone, trust me!”

Of Melissa Rycroft, Jason says she was also offered a chance to be the next Bachelorette star (Jillian Harris was ultimately chosen) and he wishes her the best.

His attention is now fully on the future with Molly and his five-year-old son Ty, however. We hope he can expect some little brothers and sisters before long.
