Just checking out my new Fender Frontman 65R solid state combo amp, Im playing MIM Standard Telecaster with 3 brass saddle bridge, and DiMarzio Twang KIng bridge pup through Frontman´s clean chanel : Vol at 2, Treble 4, Bass 10, Reverb 8-9. Its real fun to play this little amp, its got pretty decent clean Fender sound.

I do have questions about this amp: (1) does it hiss when you turn on the amp, and hiss louder as you turn up volume, (2) does the volume jump from "0" to very loud on "1", or can you get low volume tones gradually that sound good, (3) Do you think there is very little base tone, (4) How loud does the clean channel numerical settings go before getting muddy.

Just goes to show.. solid state amps can sound very good. I had a little Fender 25R.. great little amp, but my rock/progressive metal tone was a tad too much. The 65R is a good amp. Getting one this week. They are quite versatile.. they can do the fender bluesy tone in a snap.. but they also take pedals with ease and can shred/rock the house... good amp series by fender...

Great, man - - awesome classic twang. are those saddles made by Glendale? If not, which are they? What would you suggest to get the ultimate twang tone, replace the pickups first? And is your guitar an ash body or alder body? Thanks , it's really good.

@liamzuid ehm...not so easy... and I don't know if my english is godd enough... ok...either the sounds gets muddy or just flat, and sharp distortion. I tried different pedals, boss ds-1 and 2, screaming whore, boss me-20 and 50. perhaps slight bluesy overdrive...but not more.

@whaip Can you explain what sounds so crap about it?

@liamzuid I got one and it sounds really....crab with distortion

Is it good for playing with like an own distortion like ds-1 from boss? I want to get an amp where I can play really cool clean tones with. But also getting a hard rock tone is really important for me.
