The Large Hadron Collider is the largest and most complex scientific instrument ever built and the highest energy particle accelerator in the world. The accelerator is located 100 m underground and runs through both French and Swiss territory. ( 27km circumference) Year 2008 September 10th, marks the culmination of 20 years of work by over 8000 scientists thousands of engineers, technicians and support staff from over 80 different countries. some critics say that this could create a black hole and suck up the entire world. but many say that even if a black hole is created it will vanish within a millionth of a second.. for more info follow these links. (i think the best footage/documentary from the LHC) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... http://lhc-first-beam.web.cern... @BharatRamakrishna1 wars are far more of a waste of money

Just 48,000 days ago we invented the light bulb. Now this? Are we too smart for our own good? If I am around to see a time traveling or teleporting mouse, I will die a happy man :)

@Zougwarr You are a funny one aren't you ! haha

I have the weirdest hadron right now.

wow. congratulations for being the one to finally describe what the hadron collider is in human terms. I've wondered what this is for years. mystery uncloaked! Excellent narration.

Oh and by the way if you don't like money being spent on pure research then really you should not be using anything electronic. Don't forget YOU benefit directly from the pure research from the past.

Superb explanation. Well done!

@MusICfEEdsMysOUL825 Higgs boson is just an idea to push forward and finace the LHC project. It's kind of like a mask for you people to believe that this is the true reason it was built for. It even sounds funny that they spend billions of euros just to look for something that may not even exist. Well scientists are happy, they were given a playground but they don't care they are involved in a political game.
