Efteling Rollercoasters - RCT3

Based upon three Efteling Rollercoasters: Pegasus Pegasus is a Junior Wooden roller coaster in amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands. The annual theming for the year 1991 was the Fifties. In order to get the wooden coaster open during the season, and before the opening of Disneyland Paris, the total project, involving three roller coaster manufacturers, only took 7 months to complete. Curtis D. Summers and Charles Dinn designed the ride. Dinn also provided the wood, Southern Yellow Pine from the U.S., whereas RCCA took care of the wooden architecture. Intamin took care of the technical aspects. The ride has 2 trains with 5 cars per train. Each car has a capacity of 2x2 passengers At the time of opening it was the only wooden rollercoaster in the Netherlands. The ride is located partially over water, and another part is surrounded by trees. After leaving the station the train makes a 180 degrees turn to be transported by the chain lift to a height of 20 meters. The train then falls slowly into a drop, after which a 220 degrees right-hand turnaround follows, then another drop, followed by a double-up. Next is a 220 degrees turn left-hand turnaround, which is followed by a double-down. A 180 degrees left-hand turnaround takes the train into the wooden ride construction. A small climb back up follows, and then down again into one bunny hill after which the train re-enters the station. In total there are 4 curves, 9 inclinations and 8 descents. Python Python is a double Loop Corkscrew Roller coaster in amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands With "Python" Efteling started the implementation of a new strategy: development from a Fairy-tale forest into an all-round amusement park. This change led to a lot of problems with the local community. Environmentalists tried to get the building permit withdrawn, neighbors feared for more problems with growing visitors' numbers. Based upon the likely noise pollution, the highest court of public justice ordered the construction to be stopped. After some time the construction could recommence, but the legal problems continued for several more years. With the extension of the opening hours since 1995 (up till 10 pm), once more the noise (+45 Decibel) of the aging coaster became a problem. Plans were subjected to the local municipality, describing an extension (length: 1600 m; height: +41 m; speed: 100 km/h) and complete renovation, which would bring the noise down substantially. Due to the high cost, the funds were allocated to the construction of a new coaster: Bird Rok. Efteling hoped to get the night license for Python with some small renovations (new trains and Chain lift), but only with a change in the permit (48 Decibel) Python could remain open 'till 10 pm. In 2005 the trains were replaced by Kumbak Coasters Python debuted as the largest steel roller coaster of the European mainland. A Chain lift transport the train to a height of 29 meters, from where the train falls 22 meters into two consecutive Loops. After a sharp turn two Corkscrews follow. A small descending Helix concludes the ride. . Swiss Bob Swiss Bob (or "Bobbaan" in Dutch) is a Bobsled roller coaster in amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands. "Bobbaan" has 8 trains, each with a capacity of 6 passengers. The original Bobsleds, with inline seating, were replaced with new trains that sit 2 across in order to increase the ride capacity and fight back the extreme queue times (of up to 90 minutes). The original Bobsled cars were replaced by sleds with a wooden theming that matches the station's classical Austrian Alps style. The original trains were sold to Six Flags Over Texas for their La Vibora bobsled roller coaster. It is a smooth ride, especially since the original steel wheels were replaced by softer ones in order to comply with the night- opening license. The ride meanders through the trees, and has some nice drops, curves and points were the ride really picks up some speed. The music in the station is traditional Austrian music.
