I remember watching this live in 1996. I didn't know until I saw this that Muhammad Ali had Parkinson's, and I recall how shocked I was when I saw him trembling. Such a great moment.

Read the true story behind this backstage decision and many others in the bigger, better, sexier 2012 edition of the book, SECRETS OF THE OLYMPIC CEREMONIES by Myles Garcia, now out and available on amazon. It spills all the secrets on how these shows (from Berlin 1936 to Vancouver 2010) are put together. With over 150 photos and images, many of them never before published. Check out the website—secretolympiceremony

Muhammad Ali is the Sun and the rest are like Stars flickering in the distant skies; for when the Sun rises, no Stars in the sky are visible! |
