I own a JCM 800 2204 from 86. Is there any way to get the 80's best distortion without modding it? best distortion: slash AFD sound (i have the afd100 and it sucks pretty much), michael schenker, mick mars, skid row, john norum (europe), EVH. The tubes are stock EL34's as far as I know. The back of it looks really different from most jcm 800's. I can send pictures of it to you if you want? I have looked all over the internet and never found one that looks like this one on the back...

@ConstantijnBoeckx No sir, that's impossible! You must have the head plugged into a cabinet or else bad things can and will happen. :)

@murfdog19 true but i've heard both the #36 and the #39 and they both sound alot like appetite. So i guess whichever one u can afford... haha. I'm done trying to copy slash's appetite tone though, lets all try to make our own iconic sound!

hey man I have a jcm 800 4104 combo based off of 2204 I also like guns n roses and I love my amp but I want to boost it, by boost I mean so I can have slash's tone all the way to..hmmm zakk wyldes? but I dont know what od pedal i should use, should I get sd-1 or zw-44 or what? PS Nice Amp!!
