Fact is we cant just "practically" throw away shoes and go for barefeet run. What this research should be used is towards designing shoes that would encourage runners to perform the normal barefeet run style.

@MochiNyoki One of the reasons I love running with Vibrams: I get the benefits of barefoot running without the dog piss and glass. ;)

@MilitaryWife0311 Agreed, but keep in mind that your feet will have trouble fitting into them at first. After a while, they will adapt and go back to their natural shape.

@MochiNyoki If you don't feel comfortable barefoot, get yourself some vibram fivefingers, they are barefoot running shoes.

@evandefraine Thats weird...Before I got injured from tripping over my dad's shoes (which had nothing to do with me running barefoot at the moment) I would run 6 miles on hard concrete with no shoes all the time and I was perfectly fine

@MochiNyoki When a person continues to run barefoot for a certain period of time they develop calluses that protect the skin of the bottom of the feet from getting infected. I have been barefoot running for like 7months now. I stepped on a big shard of glass that was pointing upwards while I was dancing barefooted at a club once. I broke the glass and it didnt even penetrate my foot. |
