It was named for Sleeping Beauty because Walt was gearing up to promote the film which was in development when the park was built. And since no monarch can have two castles on the same continent, WDW's centerpiece became Cinderella's Castle.

no offense to any people who like Sleeping Beauty, but why call the castle Sleeping Beauty Castle when a) The DL castle looks NOTHING like the castle in the movie and b)The castle was built BEFORE Sleeping Beauty even came out.
