@nidzrule101 That guy was, back then, vice president Johnson. He became the president after Kennedy's assasination. I think he's picking up some kind of note-book.

@lostinmyregrets94 No, I believe he, and Pierre Salinger and others did.

@elquemando True. Those who won't help the poor aren't worth saving (paraphrasing)

@LiliaLayla After interviewing several generals and being unable to get a straight answer from any of them regarding a timeline for victory in Vietnam, presidential adviser and consummate Washington insider Clark Clifford told Lyndon Johnson in no uncertain terms that the war could not be won and that the US should withdraw troops ASAP. Johnson refused and thousands more Americans died over there before we finally pulled out in the mid-1970s.

Although this speech is filled with idealism, now, in retrospect, the reality has become clear that Kennedy himself had a rather cold, calculating and cynical view of how to conduct international affairs. In Vietnam we were supporting a corrupt dictatorship in the South and Kennedy authorized repeated attempts to assassinate Fidel Castro in our own hemisphere. These are not idealistic pursuits by any means.

@LiliaLayla Didn't the person who took up after Kennedy also reverse his decision to dissolve the FED ? |
