@RosariaDF I disagree. My husband had the worst childhood of anyone I know - horrid in fact - and yet he is an amazing person and has done some amazing things. And is a fabulous father. He had NO role model whatsoever. When he was 25, he sought out role models and became the man he is today. He had to work hard but he did it. And I am blessed to have him. Just because life throws you yuck - doesn;t mean you have to stick with yuck.

@mmbob711 Agreed. Try not to see him as an example for how we should live. Everyone's different and thank God for that!

@RosariaDF I VERY much agree. I had the worst childhood. I had no dreams. His model for success seems impossible to attain.

What a beautiful speaker; I'm sure Randy Pausch is still changing lives, even to this day!

this is the greatest speech i've ever heard and it brings very much inspiration and grit to achieve dreams no matter what stands in the way. nothing is impossible with god

I think a lot of stuff stuff comes under the umbrella of "easier said than done". Death is not something to be threatened by and he knows that. Life is the hard bit and he had a very good life. An easy childhood and that made him a 'balanced' person. All this stuff, well.. It's easy for him to say. It's hard for a lot of people and can often feel impossible. Don't feel like you're a failure if you don't live this way. He had it easy. Even when dying of cancer he's doing press-ups.
