@rehwr Homeschooling is only as good as the parents doing the teaching. I know people who home school their children, who I KNOW don't have a clue about what they are meant to be teaching. If they are unable to explain what they are meant to be teaching then all they are teaching is the own ignorance on a subject.

Everywhere I look government is trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Children have a lot of energy and are extremely bored in school. This isn't new. It's been that way since the dawn of time. Ultimately, each person chooses for their self where, how, when, why, if, and how much they will learn. If a kid wants to learn, they will learn. No one should be forced to do anything they don't want to do.

@FuckPropertyRights You talk about "wholesale privatization" being a bad thing as if some evil corporation will immediately swoop in and fleece parents and children for everything they're worth. No transaction takes place in the free market unless it's mutually beneficial for both parties. We ALREADY have a two-tiered education system of public and private schools. At least in a voucher system the same money is spent, but it's allocated to the kid rather than the state.

@iAreRenHo3k who the FUCK said anything about corporations? I never did! Libertarians don't understand the real life consequences of what they're advocating. Ultimately, what they're promoting in this form of advocacy of eduaction reform would be a violation of Constitutional separation between church & state as well as a two-tiered education system where kids will be separated into 2 categories: Kids whose parents can afford to supplement their voucher Kids whose parents cannot!

@FuckPropertyRights The essence of statist chicanery: bury your head in the sand and ignore all real-life examples of how the free market is superior to government-imposed monopolies. Libertarians don't place their faith in the free market because they love evil corporations; it's because they know that competition, in our daily lives just as in nature, breeds creativity and innovation. If you want to send your kids to a better school why shouldn't you have that choice?
FuckPropertyRights (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
The essence of libertarian chicanery: Pretend as if some talking-point associated with liberal progressive ideology somehow dominates the status quo, even though it never does. Then, knock down the liberal-progressive straw man with a case in favor of some kind of privatization and pretend as though it's all about "freedom" or "free choice." Sure America's education system needs to be upgraded & improved upon substantially but that's no excuse for wholesale privatization.

If a person in one country hadn't invented something, another person would have and it could have been in any country. lol. Arguments on this page are as stupid as Americans (other than me of course)
rehwr (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
