I remember two Mummers came in when I was visiting my grandmother in Bay Roberts, God rest her soul. I was 10 and scared to death of them; there was no way I'd come out of the living room even when one saw me and tried to coax me out. My mom finally got me out in the kitchen and the Mummer that originally saw me asked me to sing him a song. So I did and the two of them tapped their feet while I sang. Turns out that Mummer was one of my uncles. Boy, was I embarrassed when I found out. lol

@solidaridadglobal I thank God nothing has ever happened to me like the poor victim family in this security footage. The guy even thinks he recognizes one of the Mummers and the Mummer threatens him by shaking his fist. It's like a Newfie version of "A Clockwork Orange".

@kingbeauregard Has this happened to you? Because, living in Newfoundland, everyone I talked to around the bay who've had mummers in their homes have never, once, said anything remotely close to what you're describing. This is a treasured Newfoundland tradition, and I have never met one person who thought otherwise.
