Their grandfather was a priest and their father used to be a religion (and history) teacher before supporting First Aid Kit band full time. Apparently, these girls think for themselves! Awesome song anyway.

God damn it these girls keep making me cry..... its the harmonies, they touch a part of my brain that makes me happy and sad at the same time. Hope they keep doing what the're doing for years to come.

@Vire70 If you're interested in learning more, I would suggest "Godel, Escher and Bach," as well as "The Moral Landscape" for further study. The former author is a computational neuroscientist, the latter a neroscience researcher as well. If we are to understand how to fight ignorance in religion, we need to understand how religion works. Ignoring scientific data seems counter-intuitive to fighting religion's violent reign over humanity.

@Vire70 "Faith and reason use completely different methodology [aphorism']. I don't care [about neuroscientific data]... it should be self-evident.." Axiom: "A statement or proposition that is regarded as being established, accepted, or self-evidently true" You misunderstood and proved my point in the same paragraph.
Vire70 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@o0xemas0o Faith and reason use completely different methodology. I don't care if they're located in the same part of the brain; it should be self-evident that they are different just by the fact that we bother to distinguish the two things from one another. Faith is the root cause of all that is contemptible in religion; it encourages belief without logic, the rejection of contrary evidence, blind obedience, encourages gullibility in every sense, etc. By faith, I mean belief w/out evidence.
o0xemas0o (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Vire70 Faith and reason are both axiomatic thought processes located in the same spatial regions of the brain. Science is really just another facet of faith. These axioms can be both false (bigotry, racism, genital mutilation etc) or true (evolution, thermodynamics, relativity). Religion seems to choose the former as a multi-millennial habit
