@fossilbox1991 pool's good for TV, its quick easy to watch and entertaining. Snooker attracts a more specific audience. note, 9 ball was never that popular until around the 1970's - 80's. Straight pool or 14.1 was the main event - not as good for TV though.

there is a massive diference between snooker and american billiards. snooker is more difficult for amateur players to pot consistantly compared to pool, fact is if pool was easier all the top snooker players would dominate pool. note, the balls are noticeably larger, that alone makes the game different. Comparing the two games is like comparing gaelic football to soccer.
