I hate the Caps but that was a dirty hit that likely would result in Jannsen being given a major and suspension in the upcoming season. Too bad there was nobody out there that could throw down with him. He got away with a dirty hit and a win in the fight.

The NHL test the players between 2 and 4 times per season, randomly. You can't get away with it in the NHL.

Janssen is a dirty player - he runs around with no care or honour for the game. I hate the circus clowns but it was nice to see Orr clean hs clock after he ran and jumped at Kaberle the other night...get the circus clowns out of the game!!! it will be great to see the best hockey in the world now with the Olympics starting today! Bettman even considering no nhl participation in 2014 is moronic! ...but he thinks hockey is alive and well in Atlanta, Tampa, Nashville and Phoenix...

that is one late ass hit. cam cleaned dude's clock. that was uncalled for. too bad washington doesnt have any fighters. and what were the refs doing? laing was on the ice about 6 minutes before they jumped in.

I don't think the hit was overly excessive. The fight was kind of a joke though. The guys on his knees and Janssen is just unloading on him... whatever. He knows he'll likely get smacked around later for that one. Game misconduct... no. Major penalty... probably.

What has happened to the NHL? That was a game misconduct? Didn't we all become fans of this sport because of plays like this?! When you're on the ice you better be aware of what's going on around you. If I was a caps fan I'd hate Cam, but I'm a Blues fan and I love'm. And that's the way it's suposed to be! He's a goon it's what he does. You don't get pissed at a bear for eating a fish. Just don't go hanging around the creek when the beer is hungry.

It was a late hit and deserving of the major, but I don't know if the game misconduct was called for. And if I was in his shoes and someone else jumped me I know I'd beat the holy hell out of him too. Laing instigated the fight but didn't have what it took to finish what he started. Oh and isn't Ovechkin the player that got suspended 2 games for a dirty knee on knee hit? And he's also received another game misconduct for a boarding major. Hmm.... it seems being dirty isn't exclusive to Cam.
