@robynst8 i'm 14 and starting pointe this summer at age 15... 9 years old seems a bit young, because the muscles in your feet are still very soft and tender. they'll harden up at around age 12. i know how badly you want to go up en pointe!!! i've been there! but you should just take it one class at a time. wait until you've been doing ballet for at least 3-4 years and are comfortable with the fundamentals of dance. then you can ask your teacher about going up en pointe! Good luck!! :)

Ballet is the base of all dance. If you can do ballet you can do any dance. There are so many moves in other types of dance that are from ballet. So no tap needed, but if you want to do tap you should do ballet to help with the tap.
