@KrayzieBoneThug4Lyfe I don't doubt that he takes his playing very seriously. He's a good drummer. However,he's just VERY over-rated. I don't know the politics that went on in the band. However, if I was in a band and one of the guys wanted to put the band on ice for 3-5 years like Portnoy did,I'd be pissed about it as well. They wanted to play and he didn't.I see both sides of that issue. However,it's quite selfish to expect the world to stop while you're out doing other things.

@stevedrums He is still IMO someone that takes his job very seriously and has fun doing it, those guys get their cred, they are all known for something since they've been playing in the same fucking band for a lifetime. But not Mike, so if he has to shout it out that he is the best let him do so. He was being used in DT, not much he could do, they wouldn't let him do anything he felt like doing after all those years, atleast Neil Peart doesn't get backstabbed by his own bandmates.

@KrayzieBoneThug4Lyfe Reaally? Hal Blaine did it for more than 60 years. Neil Peart for 40 years. Phil Collins re-defined the sound of a drum in a studio and played with a who's who of artists. Steve Gadd, Simon Phillips? Never heard an arrogant or self-inflated opinion of themselves coming from them. true greats don't need to do that. However, being Portnoy isn't a "true great" in any sense of the word, he obviously doesn't understand that.

@stevedrums I think he deserves to be arrogant.. Doing that shit and MORE for 20+ years is worth taking credit for even if people like you find him arrogant.
stevedrums (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
The only thing bigger than this guy's drumset is his arrogance. Jesus, dude. You aren't original and you are certainly no innovator. Turn it down a notch - even "your band" figured out a way to move on without you.
