Its gonna be funny 20 years from now when they all somehow have cancer.

@Lamegameful It generates heat, so if you payed any attention to what I just explained you would be able to draw the conclusion that it is basically just a microwave oven that has a wider range than you typically see.
Lamegameful (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
What kind of a ray gun is this then?
jkdbjjconnection (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
that has cancer writen all over it
Lamegameful (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
So what kind of a Ray Gun is this? If it is not useing microwaves than what kind of energy is this gun emitting?
StainIessChina (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Lamegameful That is not what a maser is, a maser is basically a laser that uses microwaves instead of light, they use them for surgery and stuff. Also the heat in a microwave oven is not generated by the microwaves themselves, that would be impossible as they are just electromagnetic signals, the heat comes from the intense vibration of the water (and some other) molecules in the food.

@Lamegameful Satellite TV stations use microwave radiation which is harmless on it's own, the only way to make microwaves have an affect is to concentrate them into a small area using magnetism, basically how a microwave oven works. If you spread the microwaves out then they are going to be even less harmless. It's just not practicle to use a microwave weapon from space, you would have much better luck with lasers, presuming you could find a massive power source. It's sci fi for now
USBenergy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
so want to try that
Lamegameful (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
So would it be possible to use them as a weapon? I once found a book about talking apart your micowave oven and turning it into some sort of ray gun. They called it a Maser.

@Lamegameful Actually microwaves can pass through the atmosphere quite easily, that's why they're used in communication satellites. |
