@surfingurl2004 The bible doesn't itself persecute any given race's, what it does is provide a framework allowing someone to be a racist. There are many, many passages in the bible that give permission to invade foreign nations and rape, enslave, and murder its people.
So, the bible isn't necessarily racist. To be more specific, it enables racism through its xenophobia.

@indifferent59 thats a good point. but that doesn't mean there weren't ever certain guidelines for certain time periods, right? example--eating certain "unclean" foods. good Jew rule for back in the day, not necessary today. the Ten Commandments tho--that wasn't stated through an imperfect human; that was God straight up writing it on a rock! Like boom lol! and yeah lots of sins are worse than others, and that's God's job to judge. Just my belief :)

@surfingurl2004 If a prophet of the lord has put down those orders in the bible, as moses did with the ten commandments, isn't that god's words? Aren't the prophets his messengers? And if we go by how you are interpreting the 10 commandments, then a married person who cheats and a child molester are both equally as sinful, or cursing at your neighbor and raping him are both just as evil?

While she is making fun of the bible- this stuff is right in there. Read the old testament. You may be fairly shocked , though today most people (in my experience) only give primary attention to the NT, there are some really strange things in this book. Like... Really strange.
