Great song, played in the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" in the dance scene. A movie I took a wonderful lady to see way back in 2004. We seem to keep finding our way back to eachother over the years...Time after time

This song is epic. When is Cyndi releasing her new album? I loved Memphis Blues.

This is a generation that has grown up on recycled ideas and remakes and therefore it has been taught that aesthetics matter more than creativity and originality. If you can take another idea and make it modern your idea, what you built is wonderful while the other thing is old and ugly.
Cyndi came on the scene at a time when creativity mattered, and she was loved for it, from her unorthodox and original vocals to her style.

The fact that you don't see it as any better than Lady Gaga actually reveals something quite important about the way this generation has grown up. it has grown up without an appreciation for originality . For example I have heard Millennials bash the original Star Wars movies for their second rate special effects completely obvious to the fact that the brilliant creative concept that is the backdrop for the new movie would not even exist without the original.

Compare the most popular artists then (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Prince, Bruce Springsteen etc.) to the most popular artists today from a talent standpoint. Now In my mind one of the major culprits in this, elevation of image and controversy above talent and substance was infact an 80's artist. That would be none other than Miss Ciccone :). Ofcourse in reality it wasn't the work of any particular artist but of the society as a whole.

There are two separate issues in play here. The first is personal nostalgia and the second is the undeniable fact that things have been growing progressively worse from a talent standpoint over the decades. Pop music has never been about philosophical lyrics, the issue is the vanishing MUSICAL TALENT within the industry.
