On September 18, 1986, just 7 months after she was swept to power by a popular revolt against dictator Ferdinand Marcos, president Corazon C. Aquino addressed the joint session of the United States Congress during her first visit to the country since she came home to bury slain opposition leader and husband Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" S. @kitty10174 and The US figured that its better to change support to Cory since the people wanted democracy anyway so in other words US doesn't care who prevails so long has Philippines maintains as a friendly state to the US

@kitty10174 @kitty10174 yeah i agree, they supported Marcus because even though he wanted a Martial Law but so long as its not communist state and friendly to US, and you also have to remeber that the US has military bases in the region at that time and they cannot afford to lose such an ally. so when they found out that a revolution was taking place it made the US very concern that the communist in the south would take over but as it turns out the people wanted democracy

Hope nobody is forgetting that the United States was backing up the government or dictatorship of Marcos... They were helping him until they noticed that the people would not put up with his crap anymore... conveniently they changed their minds...
