I owned this book as a child and loved it immensely. To have discovered that there was an animated Disney short based upon it and narrated by Sterling Holloway is delightful.

"they found her. someone who knew the best place to find peace and happiness is in a little house, on a little hill, way out in the country" i see the moral of this story is to find old people in the city and ship them out to pasture so they cause no problems. the little house must have been born before 1900 and didn't like what happend after. like most people, growing old means being forgotten, even by your offspring. if those children weren't killed in the wars since 1900
