I think the scenes with Prissy in Gone with the Wind are far more offensive than something like this. You can imagine how uncomfortable I sometimes felt watching GWTW, as good as the film is. I like it, but there are certain parts that I didn't think were necessary...but it was released in 1939, when segregation was still prevalent.

k i love this its sooo much fun but im seeing that people are complaining its raceist and this may be because im only 14 but i dont get it! all im see is a fun hero who out wits the two villians both are dim but one is mega slow! thats no different then modern cartoons and shows! so someone please expain to me!

I don't understand what is so racist about this? Can someone explain it to me? It doesnt make any sense, and Splash Mountain at the Disney Theme Parks is one of the greatest rides in the history of attractions.

A salesman came to my house to sign me up with Humana advantage health plan. I am white an he is African American. While he was going through the sign up process I said, I know who you remind me of, Uncle Remus. He was sort of offended. I said that I did not mean to offend him but that I loved the stories and songs of Song of the South and that I had a great deal of admiration for James Baskett, the actor who played Uncle Remus. I think Song of the South is one of Disney's greatest movies.

@horuloverthenikka *Continued* but to Me it doesn't look like the film revolves around slavery or sharecropping, but then again I have ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, Mild form of autism (I'm not stupid it just makes some things hard for Me besides as My Mother is trying to prove to Me that being disable doesn't mean the same thing as a person can't do a darn thing for themselves) so all I really see is a another Disney movie from way back with catchy songs and animated tales I really enjoy seeing.

@horuloverthenikka Except for one thing, they're not slaves in the movie but rather "Sharecroppers" yes what you said may have been true for the original stories but its implied that they're there by choice in the film, yeah still historically inaccurate for the post-civil-war-south, but it did show that Uncle Remus could leave whenever he wanted to as it shows towards the end when Johnny gets attack by the Bull. But to Me it doesn't look like the film revolves *2bcont.*

@storrs19 well the reason many people say it is "such a sin" was because the rabbit was referring to the plantation owners and the other animals were the slaves. The tales were stating how the slaves outsmarted the plantation owners. Uncle Remus was the person telling the children, so that he can stab at the point of how slaves were treated :| so uhm yeah that's it
