Do I detect allusions to Buddhist wisdom here?
1) John Cleese is a Buddhist
2) There is a Buddhist story about how Buddha ponders the musician who produces beautiful music by making sure the strings of her instrument are not too tight, and not too slack
3) I can't see how the floppiness of the stick would make any difference to how funny this scene is. In fact I bet they probably did it in a single take.

It's funny cuz the branch stil has leaves on it.
A barren branch wouldn't be as good.
