Actually, the Talmud uses a system of logical reasoning and proofs, in which one claim is disproven and gives rise to another claim which is eventually proven because of X, which can go on for a few pages actually, to arrive at a conclusion. That's also why the Talmud is taught in South Korean schools - makes you think through logical reasoning to arrive at a conclusion(great for lawyers too).
Liberal, conservative, doesn't make a difference there.
