@ArizonaPublic you don't know what "theory" in science means, don't you?
ArizonaPublic (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
String theory is just that, A "Theory" There is an infinity of possible theories yet to be theorized.

@Saparonia I think they mean they used plasma to simulate the effects of the strings, but I'm not quite certain. Things get real wibbly on the quantum scale, and this is smallest of the smallest, so I won't say anything for certain anymore. Go ask a proper scientist I guess? Also, plasma can mean a lot of things, it wouldn't be so far to imagine they gave something else in string theory the name plasma.

Good video, I'm not too in to science, but whoever created the video made it understandable to people who have a basic knowledge of science.

There is no doubt that string theory is an elegant and mathematically beautiful theory. That being said, the fact that they through observation and experimentation have been unable to show that the theory actually maps on to the real universe, is a problem. They definitely should keep doing research on this specific theory, but i think we should keep more windows open. At this point, there is no proof at all that string theory describes reality. They should be clearer about that.

Watch a video titled String Theory - (2 minutes) ... Complain that it goes to fast. |
