Here you can see and hear what my DIY MiniAmp based on the AX84 Firefly from the other video evolved to. Since the other video it got some major modifications e.g. an ECC99 in the output-stage for some better bass response and a fuller sound and some preamp mods to shape the overdrive. The rhythm track is a Fender Telecaster in the middle position and the lead track is the same Tele with bridge-pickup engaged and some reverb added. You can find the modified schematic on my blog: http://diyguitarfreak.wordpres... Equipment: - Fender Telecaster - DIY MiniAmp with 12AX7 & ECC99 through a Weber Ceramic Sig6

@KX36 the material costs were about 80-90€, if I remember correctly.

Great tone from an impressively tiny amp. I expect it only cost similar money to a mediocre solid state amp too.

Now that's the coolest little amp i have ever seen! Great, great, great! Love it!

@cumesoftware Yes, the distance seems to be enough. :)

@cumesoftware Thx! That was one of my biggest concerns too. That's why I chose a toroidal transformer. It has a lower exterior magnetic field and therefore less interferences with the other components on the chassis (tubes, OT).

@letterbekmen You mean the big round thing on top of the chassis colored copper red and metallic next to the tubes? That's a toroidal power transformer wich transforms the AC from the wall to useable AC for the amp and is part of the power supply of this amp. For more details see my linked blog. greets

What's that big ass coil next to the power supply?
