Most aircraft use about two-thirds of the runway to take off. This is an Ilyushin IL76 freight aircraft taking off fully laden for an 11 hour flight, warm day, no wind....... oh and look, no runway left either!

I think 'Spencer Rocks' would be better off learning to spell, and going back to his text books rather than being insulting and rude to people on here. @spencer82rocks The only time the main engine is used on the shuttle is during lift-off to orbital injection. Other than that, it simply glides back to earth after reentry.

In the Australian airdromes it is accepted to graze a kangaroo and awfully bad runways, but IL-76 can fly up from dirt roads.
