Before I plan out my approach, I usually think over my goal and what I want to accomplish. If I'm just looking for a one night stand, I'd scout out a cute but not so intelligent girl and my approach would be more on the humorous side but if I'm looking for something long term, I'd try to avoid local bars in general. Little tip for shy guys, if your having trouble talking to women just imagine your talking to your mom or a girl family member, it could be kind of weird but it worked for me lol.

Another (maybe better) trick: Offer her a drink - but not personally. Just say to the waiter you will pay for her next drink. Of course she will know then, who is the guy who offered her the drink and she will go to you by herself. If not, she's not interested, but you still save face :)
