@DetroitShadows no the Charleston was the first big dance that came about instead of ballroom dancing. That was in the 20s. The jitterbug was an evolution of the Charleston to an extent.

@Freyja1133 You may be thinking of the traditional morals of the 1920s. In the flapper era, skirts were getting higher and progressed (occasionally digressed with the economy of the 1930's). This being 1944, the US is still in War, and with War, supplies were needed such as fabric and buttons. This cause America to "cut down" to give the Boys what they needed. Now, it's fashion! :)

Why are some of the dancers wearing skirt which are above the knee? The girls didn't wear skirts  that high back then...everything was below the knee

@cutepurple12345 I know what you mean! I'm one of those girls who has butt. Apparently the fashion these days (at least in Australia) is to have a very little butt. What a pain :P
