You can't call most of this new shit rap or hip hop. Young money for example is Hip POP and its more RnB than anything it dosent tell a story like rap its just meant to be catchy. Take a look at just randoms that will call Lil wayne or drake a Rapper not true at the state there at now old lil wayne was a rapper but now he's a pop artist. in my opinion KENDRICK FUCKING LAMAR is bringing back Rap and setting a new standard for artist these days and for those who appreciate lyrics over catchiness
