Get some treats and use a soft and loving voice. If you treat the dog kindly, it may not think of you as a threat. Hope this helps.

We struggled for close to a year trying to decide if we could take the chance of loving and losing again . . . well, we're dog people and we just couldn't live without the joyful energy a pup gives! About a month ago we got 'Shadow' from a shelter as a puppy. He is all black . . . is a Lab/Chow mix . . . his fur is soft and midlength. One thing, it's a responsibility, but the returns are very special.
