Picked up two old guitars & a tube PA that was probably used for the purpose of torturing children; by forcing them to take part in square dancing, during PE class. This Bogen PA was built in 1960 or '61, it features an EL-84 power section, the rectifier is an EZ-81 & the pre/phase inversion circuit has three old RCA 12ax7s, the speaker is a 1960 Jensen C12r. The output of the amp exceeds the power handling of the speaker; so I'm trying to keep it low, but it does begin to break up at about three on the volume dial. The guitars: Harmony H-44- I picked this one up a few weeks ago in basket case condition. Luckily it only took one night to bring back to playable condition. The pots date it as a 1956 Montgomery Wards H-44; some of you will notice the emblem, blk pickguard & gold paint. the action is a little high but it plays like a dream & sounds great. Truetone- From what i've gathered online, this truetone was made by Kay in the mid 60s & sold thru Western Auto. Once again, this was a thrift store basket case, it was missing two tuner pegs, the neck was shimmed to the point where the strings laid on the frets. I've been lightly dressing the frets all week. The pickups sound great & the V-neck plays pretty well. I think it dates from '65-'67.

My friend and I do conversions of old Hammond amps for guitar use (easier than you'd think) and he introduced me a few years ago to the old Bogen PA amps. The tone stacks are always real bassy, and the NFB Loop should be disconnected to open up the tone (remember, a PA amp will have freq. attenuation to shape the sound for vocals) and you can even swap the values of the caps on the tone selector switch and have a "vox, marshall, fender, etc" positions. Great guitar amps with a little work.

@mbriandev unfortunately I sold off my teles. I do have a Jaguar & an old silvertone U1. I can cover a lot of ground between those two guitars:)

3:23 LOL hate when that happens. Dude you need to put some other guitars through the amp like a tele, strat or LP style.
