I live in Plainfield, IL and my house has had some bad history of lightning. Once, lightning hit the street to the west of us and the bolt traveled to our laundry vent; setting the lint on fire, thus setting the laundry room on fire. The second time it hit somewhere nearby and our ceiling fan exploded. The third time it hit a large tree about 10 feet away from our house. I'm starting to think our house likes lightning and that's why I hate lightning so much :(
