I am picking up an x100b today. The old fuzzy carpet version with EL34s.It sounds awesome on clean and dirt.

6L6 seems to have a little thicker sound while the EL34s have more bite.

EL34's sounded softer and more mid-focused.
6L6's sounded harder and wider (more treble and bass).

The EL34's are tighter and more compressed which is typical of these valves - the 6L6's are more open but also much more woolly in the gain department. I prefer EL34's for gain and the 6L6's for clean stuff myself ... I say this owning an XB-60 with 6L6's and owning a Brit Sound City with EL34's ...I switch between them both for the best of both worlds.

For me it's just made me order a set of EL34's to replace my 6L6's.
Each to their own style etc
Nice vid thanks:-)
