You should be more consistent giving your answers with the correct amount of digits; the answer in the first example isn't 100 J, it's 0,1 kJ because you gave the mass with only one digit, which really means that the mass can be anywhere from 0.5 kg to 1.4 kg (adds an uncertainty which must be accounted for in the answer). I know it seems pointless, but some teachers put a lot of weight on this.
