I realize that not everyone has chickens... BUT, if you do, or have a friend who does... you can put a chicken tractor over or near your garden plot and allow the chickens to scratch up the soil, they remove all greenery and fertilize the soil. When they have everything worked over, you can then move them to another location and begin your final garden prep and planting. Chicken tractors are even being used in cities like Boston! permaculture works really well for Tomatoes as they simple self-seed in the tunnel here at Bealtaine Cottage!

We live here in Texas where the summers are too hot. Lettuce and tomatoes don't do well in extreme heat. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Don't use Newspaper if you are concerned with Cancer.
Newspaper ink is *the* greatest envirohazard of landfills, leaching into the
earth and causing awful damage with its poisonous residues, such as lead, aluminum, cadmium and other toxic heavy metals not to mention the new GMO Soy Inks..

mainstream food is unhealthy to eat.
It's sprayed with many different pesticides and alot of it is genetically modified.
It doesn't have the same amount of nutrients and in some cases it causes malfunctions of in your bodies organs, allergies and birth defectsin babes.
