My bad. The Boss released it in 1973. It was the first song on and the first single from his first album, according 2 Wiki. MM covered it in 1976.

To sirkoho & ShawnHeld: Bruce Springsteen WROTE the song and Manfred Mann(I believe) recorded it first. The Boss's version is very good, but IT'S actually the remake!!!
