They are really aseptic because you are not putting them on in a sterile environment, but it is the best that we can do outside of the operating room. They are still called sterile though because of the precautions that are taken.

Technically yes- but when you are doing an aseptic procedure in a patient's room, it is not sterile so as long as you don't touch anything your gloves are fine. In the OR, it would be considered contaminated and you would start again.

When I put on sterile gloves, if I pull them up from the cuff while they're a little below the waist in order to have the room to yank on them, is this not sterile?
