During WWII German Nazis killed or persecuted about 9 million Polish people ( I mean ethnic Poles )The Germans killed the most of 3 millions Poles . They made thousands executions killing hundreds thousands Polish people . They threw out from houses near 2 470 000 Poles . They deported to force work about 2 460 000 Polish people , part of them did not come back to Poland . The Germans destroyed millions Polish houses. The Germans burnt about 800 Polish villages

It is racist - even more- Nazis book , because Art Spigelmann presents Polish prisoners of this horrible camp like swines ...which is Nazis way . This way German Nazis treated Polish people during their occupation of Poland - they beated Polish people , called them swines ( you Polish swine!) . This book breaks American law - I mean law forbidding discrimination of people because of their nationality ( Sec. 601, Civil Rights Act of 1964; 78 Stat. 252; 42 U.S.C. 2000d )

@muyaa That's the thing that struck me most about the book. The kids and I have tried to count the many exceptional things Vladek did, which kept him alive. All those things which kept him from being winnowed out with the rest. And imagine the physical stamina and force of will that such survival would require.
One hopes the Spiegelman genetics have been passed on...

I praise Maus as an amazing and tragic novel and that everybody should read it
