Dear Mr, Crawford,
Good short realistic glimpses of the great battle
Maybe you can make contact,, get copues to public schools, etc
whos teachers could really use this work to
wake up' the students from the not
so exciting/inspiring methods history id usually taught today!
I'm sure students would ask questions about uniforms
weapons, . terrain, locations,, ways of life., North and South etc

@cckzdt Why would Grant be turned Confederate? Where is that even Implied? Illinois? That statement requires an explanation. :)

GO READ THE BOOK, THE CIVIL WAR MEMOIRS OF ULYSSES S. GRANT.
You will be amazed what he did through out the Civil War.Which I am reading NOW.
Have you ever wonder if ULYSSES S. GRANT was a turned to be a Confederate
General? It would have been a different U.S. Today.Makes you think of the different outcome all togther. All I can say is he was THE MAN who made today
possible for the U.S.

i always wanted to trace the areas where the armies marched to shiloh and imagine it was it was like marching on dirt, muddy roads, crossing rivers, streams and enduring heat, cold, rain, etc, just to fight a battle.
haynes1776 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@modelleg Shiloh was only the begining of the bloody battles to come.

@Nightwalker191 cant argue with you on that. Both union and Confederate were fighting for what they believe in. It was even tragic that brothers would be fighting brothers, cousin against cousin, and so on. Very tragic time in history.

@haynes, Thanks, but you don't have to say that, cause he is no braver than the other men and women that fight today. You see, there is no such thing as being a coward when you fight in war.
haynes1776 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Nightwalker191 he was a very brave man.

The Hornet's nest, where Gen prentis's Union division stood there ground against wave after wave of confederate attacks and point blank canon fire before being forced into surrender, bought enought time for Gen Grant to re-group and bring up Reinforcements to turn the tables around in his favor and win the Battle of shiloh |
