@BeyondInfinium I dont want to be a Tax Payer, I'd rather be an Axe Slayer.

From this piece my metal journey has begun and I am form 1983.

@BeyondInfinium There was no bass on Sinister Slaughter, just two acoustic guitars, live they do it a bit differently, and have added some lyrics.

@Bassbait Yeah, The Locust is pretty cool.

@Mahalist Nirvana was following a scene, just so you know, and most people within that scene didn't really think Nirvana was the best or most original from it. If you want original, listen to The Locust. But seriously, original is the first, not the ONLY. The early Death Metal bands were original because they each had their own sound and basically knew nothing about the other bands - Death, Possessed, and Necrophagia are original bands. Thrash too - Exodus is an original band. There's plenty.

@Bassbait
Well clearly we have a different take on originality.
Surely within those scenes you mentioned there were/are lot of original groups. But for me, when there is a 100 bands from the same town, playing the exact same fucking music, it stops being original at some point.
Just to give you an idea of what I find original, I'm giving you a list of a few american bands.
Macabre (ofc)
Converge
Nirvana
Type O Negative
Timeghoul

@Bassbait Apparently he wrote it in 1981. But I really doubt anyone from this band would have read his precious poem. That is some interesting stuff though.
Bassbait (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Mahalist What? Few? So the whole florida Death Metal scene, Bay Area Thrash Scene, the Grunge scene... there weren't a lot of original bands? I beg to differ. Macabre is one of the MOST original bands from the states, but far from the only.

@Android18uk I know what you mean, Curb Your Enthusiasm dedicated an entire episode to people ripping off Richard Lewis who claims to have made up the "____ from hell" phrase. And that was a hilarious episode. So the guy's poem better have been written before 2002 when that episode came out... or before 1993 when this album came out... or before 1988 when the first usage of that phrase in a book was noted, or before the 1940's when there was "the ladies from hell", a musical group. Old poem? |
