I am quite aware. We have a water softener and are on a well system. I know the crust is minerals and in our area it will be mostly calcium. My glasses forever look dirty. And it's not air bubbles, it is actually visible particles and at times are large enough for me to take out of my water with my finger. The water here is horrible and I honestly don't know anyone who drinks from the tap. I use to live in Denver and I remember running the faucets to wait for the brown water to clear out.

the crust is just the minerals in the water. its also called hard water when it has a lot of minerals in it, but most places use a water softener to take out most of the minerals. and the particles are actually air bubbles from the water being aerated from the faucet. i live in boulder and the water here is some of the cleanest in the country, but when you get it out of the faucet you cant even see through it, but if you wait a minute, it goes back to perfectly clear. and its delicious.

Lactose is actually the natural sugar in cow milk, that's what's taken out regular cow milk but it doesn't work for me because I get very bloated & gassy when I drink that stuff, so I don't! I love this bit, can watch it 100 times!

all I know is that tap water leaves particles in my drink and crust on my cups...bottled water doesn't do that and that is enough for me.
