I have a two-piece '48 SCOTT Model 800 Hi-Fi FM/AM/SW that has the green tuning eye. The amp has about a dozen tubes alone. Needs restoration. Any collectors interested in it give me a shout at antmeeks60 at yahoo.com and I'll send you photos.

thanks for the interesting video of our similar HK a300"s
w/o a tube manual in hand i ask you if there's a notable diff in impedance between the 6l6/6v6?
i have replaced the coupling caps and aquired a pair of advent model #1's spkrs. i do love the sound

You cant see it, but I can hear it. A well balanced amp is the trick for me. Prp 9372 films , shinkoh tantalums in a few select locations and nos allen bradley carbons on my grid stoppers. Dont get me started on caps, although I do like the russian military stuff , specially the teflons and oilers. Yes I use silver milspec wire to. It all makes a differance. Satisfaction for me. A hobby a job and a passion. My 2 cents.

@badboyfreaky69
Tubes are tubes and people blow money on tubes like silly people.
Match paired? Yea they make a small difference in a push pull but it is also a marketing gimmick. I could do a test and see if you could hear the difference. You could not. If you can prove that telefunken tubes are better or matched pairs are worth the hype and money I would like to see it.
Why would any one use their amp every day? Why not? You are talking propaganda and myth not engineering.

By the way the telefunken preamp tubes you probably have in there are worth alot of money and for a good reason. This is not a cheaply made amp by any fetch. I have two identical HK receivers that are undocumented, using basically the a-300 award output section. They sound amazing with the JJ 6v6s.They will be with me at my grave or in my childrens hands when im gone. The HK engineers cant even find the documentation on them! made for console installs? I wish to contact You in person. AARON

Chad may I suggest a matched Quad of JJ Tesla 6v6 spiral filament tubes from antique electronic supply. Although not published they can take 500 volts on plates without even the slightest hint of cherry and sound amazing to me in my HK receiver.

I know why someone would use this amp daily, it sounds awesome, period. The sound is very dynamic due in part to its cathode bias and has a wonderful singing quality with the 6v6 / 7408 tubes, let alone the telefunken preamp tubes which are worth gold themselves. |
